Report outlines near drowning of Wet 'n Wild worker

Eyewitness News obtained the report that outlines what happened the day a Wet 'n Wild worker nearly drowned on the job.

According to the Orlando Police Department report, William Gonzalez was trying to find a pair of lost glasses when the accident happened at the popular water park Aug. 26.

A company representative would only say that Gonzalez, 30, is out of the hospital and recovering two weeks after he was sucked into the water by a pump and trapped.

According to the report, Gonzalez and another employee were trying to retrieve a pair of glasses on the black hole water ride. They were in a confined area underneath the stairwell of the ride.

The report said the two had to open a grate cover, and that is when Gonzalez got sucked into the water by a pump and got stuck.

Gonzalez was stuck in about 3 feet of water.

The other employee tried to pull him out but couldn't and then ran to turn off the pump.

Gonzalez was then pulled out by another employee who performed CPR.

The report said Gonzalez had visible bruises on his left torso area from the pump.

A representative with the Occupational Health and Safety Administration said that the office is investigating the incident.

According to OSHA records, Wet 'n Wild has not been cited in nearly 21 years.

A company representative would not say if any procedural changes have been made since the accident.
