DELTONA, Fla. — Volusia County residents will have a chance to voice their concerns, thoughts and opinions Wednesday during a public meeting where officials will update the community on the “I-4 Beyond the Ultimate” project.
Officials will present a project development and environment reevaluation study, which focuses on the idea of adding express lanes on Interstate 4.
The lanes would run west from U.S. 27 to State Road 435, and east from State road 434 to State Road 472.
The express lanes would consist of about 40 miles of road, project officials said.
“We’re looking at a broader portion,” Florida Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jennifer Horton said. “There are five segments of the ‘Beyond the Ultimate’ project and it’s about a 40-mile study, which is long.
“It’s a lot of road, and we want to make sure everything connects in Central Florida in a way that makes sense and that it is safe and efficient and effective.”
The meeting will give residents a chance to voice their thoughts on the best way to do that.
“The hearing is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed improvements,” project development manager Amy Sirmans said.
The meeting will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Deltona City Hall, 2345 Providence Blvd.
