ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — An Ormond Beach man is facing homicide charges after police say he shot and killed another man in the parking lot of a Volusia County night club.
Investigators say Christian Pursley showed up at the Rockin' Ranch night club on Friday night, New Year's Eve. Pursley's estranged wife, Shannon, and a male friend were at the nightclub, and some sort of discussion occurred between the three of them.
Police told WFTV Shannon Pursley and her male friend were later leaving the establishment around 2:00 Saturday morning when Christian Pursley opened fire on the friend's vehicle.
The male friend, whose name has not been released, was struck by the gunfire and later died at a hospital.
Police say Christian Pursley fled the scene but was followed to his home on Fir Street, where he barricaded himself inside.
The SWAT team, as well as crisis negotiators, were called to the home. The standoff ended after a few hours when Pursley surrendered to police.
Pursley is now in the Volusia County Jail, charged with first degree murder.
