The fiancee of the late Aaron Hernandez is speaking out after Netflix released a docuseries that focused on the former football star’s life and what may have caused his downfall.
In an exclusive interview with ABC News, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez discussed some of the claims from “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez.”
The docuseries touches on Hernandez’s conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd, whether or not Jenkins-Hernandez may have disposed of the weapon used in the murder, Hernandez’s possible ties to a 2012 double homicide that he was eventually acquitted for and whether or not the former New England Patriot was bisexual.
“You can’t describe someone’s sexuality without them being here,” said Jenkins-Hernandez about some of the claims. “Although I’ve had a child with Aaron, I still can’t tell you how he was feeling inside. No one can.”
Jenkins-Hernandez went on to say she wouldn’t have loved Hernandez any differently if he was attracted to men. “I would’ve understood. It’s not shameful," she said.
Hernandez was found guilty of killing Lloyd, who was the boyfriend of Jenkins-Hernandez’s sister, in April 2015.
Jenkins-Hernandez said she declined participating in the docuseries and just wants to move on with her daughter.
When asked how she would describe Hernandez to her daughter, Jenkins-Hernandez said she would call him a “loving individual who loved her.”
Hernandez committed suicide inside his cell in 2017.
