OCOEE, Fla.,None — Tuesday, Ocoee city leaders will meet to discuss making it legal for residents to drive golf carts on local roads.
Ocoee's mayor said he believes the plan will attract people to the city.
The change would require buying safety manuals and signs, which would cost around $10,000, to let people know where the carts are allowed.
Residents say they think the plan is a great idea.
"My wife works at Ocoee middle school and I would love for her to be able to take a golf cart instead of doing the car thing," said Ocoee resident.
Anyone wanting to drive a golf cart on city streets would be required to have their cart inspected by Ocoee police and would have to pay a $40 fee every two-years.
If the plan is approved, anyone who doesn't follow the rules could face a $100.
