A Swedish court has found rapper A$AP Rocky and two members of his entourage guilty of assault in connection to a fight that happened June 30 in Stockholm's city center, according to multiple reports.
Rocky, Bladimir Corniel and David Rispers were found guilty of assault Wednesday and given suspended sentences for their roles in the brawl, which left a 19-year-old injured, BBC News and The New York Times reported. The trio had already spent more than a month in custody while awaiting trial in Sweden.
The sentences handed down Wednesday mean Rocky, Corniel and Rispers will face no additional prison sentence in Sweden unless they commit a similar crime in the country again, according to the Associated Press. The news service reported the three were also ordered to pay a total of 12,500 kroner ($1,307) in compensation.
In a statement obtained by BBC News, the court said, "The assault has not been of such a serious nature that a prison sentence must be chosen."
Prosecutors had asked that Rocky receive a 6-month sentence for his role in the fight, according to the Times.
Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, pleaded not guilty last month and said he had been acting in self-defense after Mustafa Jafari, 19, and another man refused to leave him and his entourage alone, the AP reported.
The court said Wednesday that Rocky, Corniel and Rispers "were not in a situation" where they were entitled to self-defense and that they "assaulted the victim by hitting and kicking him," according to the AP.
The trio was released Aug. 2 from Swedish custody and allowed to return to the U.S. while awaiting the verdict.
The case drew the attention of celebrities and President Donald Trump, who sent his special envoy for hostage affairs to Stockholm to watch the trial, according to NPR News. The president hailed news of Rocky's release from jail earlier this month.
