LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles rapper Kaalan “KR” Walker was sentenced to at least 50 years in prison on Monday after being convicted of numerous rapes.
Walker, 27, was convicted in April on charges brought by three teenage girls and four women, Deadline reported.
Walker, who has an acting credit as a gang member in the 2018 film “Superfly,” also appeared in 2017′s “Kings” alongside Halle Berry and Daniel Craig, according to the entertainment news site.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Walker had been charged with “three counts of forcible rape, two counts of statutory rape and two counts of rape by intoxication,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
Walker’s victims, who were models, alleged that he reached out to them via social media, offering professional networking and guidance, police confirmed to the newspaper.
His victims told police, however, that Walker sexually assaulted them after getting them alone, the Times reported.
Andrew Flier, Walker’s defense attorney, offered an alternative motive for the charges during trial.
According to KNBC, Flier argued that Walker made “false promises” that the victims believed.
“Each one of these women voluntarily made their own decisions … (Walker) didn’t force them. … It’s payback to Mr. Walker, and we’re not going to let that happen,” Flier said, according to the TV station.
Walker was sentenced Monday to 50 years to life.
Walker, who had been released on bail following his 2018 arrest, was ordered held after sentencing, according to City News Service.
