Twin In Murder Case On Trial For 4th Time

ORLANDO, Fla. — A twin from Orlando is on trial for the fourth time for murdering two people. Prosecutors say Dante Hall and his twin brother with a similar name, Donte, raided a house party in Eustis in 2006 and shot two men.

One brother was already sentenced to death for the crime.

The murder trial for the second brother has resulted in two mistrials and a postponement.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys want to make sure this is their fourth and final trial.

Dante and Donte Hall are identical twins and there names are nearly identical, but defense attorneys are out to prove Dante isn't the same as his brother who is a convicted killer.

Prosecutors say there is no "good" twin in the Hall family, both are murderers.

Donte Hall is already on death row for the 2006 robbery and murders of Kison Evans and Anthony Blunt at a Eustis house party.

If prosecutors have their way, Dante Hall will join his brother.

This is the fourth time that Dante Hall has been brought to trial for allegedly being in the group of robbers that broke up the Gottschee Avenue party with gunfire.

There were already two previous mistrials based on in-admissible witness statements and a postponement because of the absence of an expert witness for the state.

Monday afternoon, prosecutor Bill Gross told WFTV it wasn't possible to quantify the costs of the trials to the state. But defense attorneys seem to think the state's cost may be approaching six figures.

Defense Attorney Michael Graves acknowledged that he and his co-counsel were compensated for Dante Hall's first trial. But, now they are working on their own dime so the Halls' don't become the nation's first twins on death row.

Attorneys hope to have a final jury seated by Tuesday afternoon.
