UPDATE: Apopka police arrest suspect in fatal hit & run crash

APOPKA, Fla. — Apopka police have arrested the person they say hit a man with a car before driving away from the scene last month.

Police say Pablo Hernandez- Santa Cruz, 30, turned himself in to the Orange County jail Friday on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and evidence tampering.

According to police, the victim was walking along the 300 block of West Main Street around 8 p.m. on March 24 when he was hit.

Two days later, Apopka police released surveillance photos showing a possible suspect and their damaged vehicle sometime after the collision.

Investigators say the pictures led them to Hernandez- Santa Cruz’ home, where the suspect vehicle was found.

Police say they were then able to obtain an arrest warrant for Hernandez- Santa Cruz.

He’s being held in the Orange County jail on no bond.
