Grace becomes a hurricane; Tropical Storm Henri continues to strengthen

11 a.m. update

Hurricane Grace

Hurricane hunters found that Grace became a hurricane near Grand Cayman.

The storm’s winds are near 75 mph, making it the second hurricane of the Atlantic hurricane season.

Hurricane Grace is expected to make landfall in the Yucatan Peninsula on Thursday morning.

The storm could continue to strengthen before it makes landfall.

Henri

Henri continues to hold steady in strength over the western Atlantic Ocean.

Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph, with higher gusts.

Forecasters said the storm is expected to become a hurricane by the weekend.

5 a.m. update

Grace

Tropical Storm Grace is expected to strengthen into a hurricane by Wednesday night.

Forecasters said Grace will continue to move near or over the Cayman Islands later this morning.

The storm’s winds have increased to near 65 mph.

Henri

Tropical Storm Henri could become a hurricane by the weekend.

The storm is expected to gradually turn on Thursday and Friday.

Forecasters said they don’t expect Henri to strengthen until Thursday.
