Tropical Storm Nicholas downgraded after making landfall in Texas

ORLANDO, Fla. — Tropical Storm Nicholas was downgraded after it made landfall in Texas on Tuesday. Read updates below:

5 a.m. update

Tropical Storm Nicholas could bring life-threatening flash floods across the deep south over the next few days.

Forecasters said the storm should move slowly over Louisiana by Wednesday.

The storm’s winds have decreased to 70 mph, with higher gusts.

Meteorologists said Nicholas should weaken further on Tuesday and is expected to become a tropical depression by Wednesday.
