ORLANDO, Fla. — While many communities are getting a brief break from the rain Thursday morning, another round of heavy rainfall is expected to move across Central Florida later Thursday.
Widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop and spread across the region, with some areas picking up an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain.
Locally heavier amounts are possible where storms repeatedly move over the same locations.
The additional rainfall could lead to ponding on roads and renewed localized flooding, especially in areas that have already received significant rain.
Rain chances decrease heading into the weekend
The weather pattern is expected to gradually change beginning Friday.
Showers and thunderstorms will become more isolated from Friday into the weekend, giving many Central Floridians a better chance to dry out.
While a few passing showers and storms will still be possible, rain coverage will be much lower compared with the widespread activity expected Thursday.
