Crowds return to OIA for busy holiday travel weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando is once again a hot destination for many travelers.

Nearly 48 million people decided to take a trip this Fourth of July holiday.

At Orlando International Airport alone, 1.5 million travelers were expected, which is triple to what we saw last year.

On Monday, check-ins plus security wait times exceeding 20 minutes could put people in a bind.

That’s why the airport is urging people to come early and be patient as airline staffing numbers remain lower than in the past despite the spike in travelers.

Masks are still required in the airport and on a plane.

Airport officials said the traveler count may be out as early as Tuesday.
