A woman who hit and killed an Orange County mother and then drove off was sentenced to probation Wednesday.
The victim’s family said they were disappointed by the judge’s ruling calling the punishment a "slap on the wrist."
Nikita Pope’s family said they wanted Carmen Clayton to face trial for hitting and Pope along U.S. Highway 441 in Apopka nearly two years ago.

“The trial would have given us an opportunity to hear what her defense was,” Pope’s uncle, Stanley Payne, said.
Clayton's lawyer said her defense was that she didn't know she hit a person and believed someone threw something at her vehicle.
He also said he had witnesses to show Clayton wasn't drinking or texting at the time of the crash.
Prosecutors said they wanted two years of jail time, but Clayton made the plea to the judge, who made the final decision.
