Man, 77, dies in Orange County crash on State Road 429, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man has died following a crash in Orange County, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the crash happened around 10:20 a.m. Sunday near Apopka.

Parts of State Road 429 were shut down because of the crash but have reopened.

According to a news release, a Toyota Tundra was traveling southbound on State Road 429 near mile marker 28.

Investigators said it is unclear why the driver lost control and ran off the roadway, causing the Toyota to collide with a guardrail and overturned.

The 77-year-old male driver and the 73-year-old female passenger were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where the driver was pronounced dead.

The passenger suffered serious injuries but is in stable condition.

FHP is still investigating the crash.
