Orange County tracking rise in pregnant women infected with COVID-19

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Among the 1,000 cases a day of COVID-19 that Orange County is tracking a rise in infected pregnant women who are getting seriously ill.

For months, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has noted that pregnant women are at an increased risk for severe illness from the virus.

While recent vaccine data is encouraging for moms-to-be, underlying health factors or a family history of vaccine allergy or injury complicate the picture.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that pregnant women and those thinking about getting pregnant get the vaccine.
