Orange County utility employee fired after bringing gun to office, report says

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County fired one of its utility employees who worked in customer service for bringing a gun to the office.

According to a 14-page investigative report, more than a dozen of the woman’s coworkers described situations that made them very nervous.

They said they knew Jennifer Ramos-Gonzalez, a meter-reader in the customer service division, had a gun because she showed it to one of the employees at work.

According to the report, a colleague went to professional standards after seeing the gun in Ramos-Gonzalez’s purse. The report says 13 employees said they had concerns with her and many described what they considered to be odd and sometimes scary behavior.

The county fired Ramos-Gonzalez for violating its code of conduct, possessing a weapon on county property, misconduct and rudeness or acts of disrespect.

Ramos-Gonzalez worked at the county for a little more than a year. Channel 9 was unable to reach her for a comment.
