Orlando city officials’ plea: Flush only toilet paper

ORLANDO, Fla. — When you gotta go, you gotta go. However, city officials are pleading residents to flush only human waste and toilet paper.

Everything else, including “flushable” wipes, can lead to problems with the wastewater system, especially with so many people staying home.

Other items don’t disintegrate like toilet paper, which then clogs up the wastewater management system pipes and lift station pumps – which then, must be cleaned by hand.

Toilet paper is hard to come by on the shelves nowadays, so you may have to improvise, but the city is asking people to not flush baby wipes, paper towels, tissue paper or even those “flushable” wipes.
