Police identify shooting victim killed inside Conway-area home in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Update: Police said the man killed in the shooting on Frigate Drive was 40-year-old Ruben Confesor Davila.

The man’s roommate called 911 and said he heard a loud bang then foudn his roommate unconscious with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to preliminary information, the suspect is an acquaintance of the victim and there is unconfirmed information of a suspected narcotics dealing being conducted by the victim.

Police in Orlando said they are working on a homicide investigation at a home in the Conway area.

Officers rushed out to Frigate Drive, near Michigan Street and Semoran Boulevard, around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators haven’t said anything about the victim or killer.

Police said a person was killed, but little else has been made public.

Several crime scene detectives were seen at the home in the Lake Porter Reserve subdivision.

Investigators said they were called about a suspicious person incident.

After police arrived, the investigation was upgraded to a homicide.

The name and age of the victim have not been released.

Residents near the crime scene have described the neighborhood as quiet and safe. James Matthews says he was on a walk with his elderly mother Wednesday morning when they stumbled on the scene.

“It’s a little overwhelming to hear what happened,” Matthews said. “It shocks both of us that something like this would happen in this neighborhood...people watch out for each other.
