Person lying on tracks killed by train in Kissimmee, troopers say

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A pedestrian died after directly colliding with a Kissimmee train Sunday, troopers said.

Troopers said the crash happened around 3:15 a.m. in Osceola County.

According to a news release, the victim was lying down with their head on the railroad track south of East Carroll Street, between East Donegan Avenue, but it is unknown whether they were sleeping.

Florida Highway Patrol said the southbound train approached East Carroll Street, ran over the victim and came to a stop on East Donegan Avenue.

The victim died at the scene and the train conductor and engineer were not injured.

FHP is still investigating the crash.
