Shootout at Kissimmee hookah bar leaves woman dead, deputies say

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The Osceola Sheriff’s office is investigating a shooting in Kissimmee that left one person dead and another injured.

According to deputies, the shooting happened at the Red Star Restaurant and Hookah Bar on West Irlo Bronson Boulevard.

Deputies received a call regarding a shooting around 5 a.m. at that location.

When deputies arrived, they found a woman lying on the ground.

Deputies said the woman died from a gunshot wound, while another man was shot in the leg and is expected to be okay.

According to deputies, this incident started as a shootout. Investigators said they found multiple bullet casings on the ground.

Deputies aren’t sure whether the people shot were involved with the shooters, or if they were caught in the line of fire.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Deputies aren’t sure how many people are involved.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez says he has noticed a pattern of crime at these hookah bars, and he’s ready to put a stop it.

“I’m tired of this crime at these hookah bars. I’m going to start doing whatever I can to start cracking down on this, including working with other agencies,” Lopez said.

The business is under new management.

Although, this isn’t the first time Red Star has been at the center of a homicide investigation.

In August 2020, we reported to you that deputies found Kenneth Leggett shot to death in the parking lot.

Investigators are now looking at video from the businesses nearby to help track down the people involved.
