DELAND, Fla. — Stetson University has been named a National College of Distinction for the fourth consecutive year.
The DeLand university received the recognition for the 2026-2027 academic year from Colleges of Distinction, a college guide that evaluates institutions through research and interviews.
Stetson also received recognition in eight additional categories, including its business and education programs, career development initiatives and services for military-affiliated and international students.
Preparing students for careers
Colleges of Distinction evaluates schools based on factors including student engagement, teaching, campus community and graduate outcomes.
The organization highlighted Stetson’s efforts to incorporate career preparation into the student experience. Those programs include resume and interview training, internships, alumni mentoring and research opportunities.
“We are honored to receive nine national awards from Colleges of Distinction,” Stetson President Christopher F. Roellke said. “This recognition highlights Stetson’s commitment to providing a relationship-rich education that combines outstanding teaching, close mentorship and real-world experiences to prepare our graduates for success.”
Colleges of Distinction Chief Operating Officer Tyson Schritter said Stetson has created an environment in which students are supported and challenged academically and professionally.
Founded in 1883, Stetson is the oldest private university in Central Florida.
