ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County woman on trial for her husband’s murder took the stand in her own defense.
Danielle Redlick is accused of stabbing her husband, Michael, to death in 2019. She is claiming self-defense.
Danielle Redlick testified about her relationship with her husband — how it started and how it became toxic.
Michael was Danielle’s stepfather. When her mother passed, Danielle said she became a caregiver to her siblings in the home and eventually began a romantic relationship with Michael.
Danielle said they were living in Cleveland at the time she described their relationship as “good.” However, she said their relationship was already abusive at that time.
She told the jury that she saw an ex at a concert one day and an argument started with Michael shortly after. She said that after she called Michael “Jewish and cheap,” he hit her.
Eventually, the couple moved to Memphis for Michael’s job.
She said once that again, the relationship was good initially but alcohol-fueled arguments soon started.
Danielle said that when Michael drank too much, he would get physical.
She said that they moved a few more times for his work and the abuse continued.
Danielle had been calm throughout her testimony.
However, she got extremely emotional after her daughter took the stand on Monday.
Her testimony will resume this afternoon. Check back and watch Eyewitness News for updates.
