ORLANDO, Fla. — Dr. Floyd Livingston, Chief of Pulmonology at Nemours Children's Hospital, is urging parents to spend time teaching their kids about proper mask use before school starts in the fall.
Dr. Livingston says the sooner a child can be prepared for daily mask use, the better.
“You can’t just go on the first day of class and say, OK you’re going to wear your mask for six hours today.” Livingston warns.

Dr. Livingston suggests spending time easing them into wearing the mask, for example, starting with a half-hour one day and working them up to an hour or two per day.
He also suggests making the process fun for them by allowing them to choose their own patterns and colors or by making it a game to keep them engaged.
