PALM BAY, Fla. — A bomb threat that prompted an increased law enforcement presence at Palm Bay schools Tuesday appears to have been an attempted swatting incident, police said.

Investigators determined there was no threat to public or school safety at the time of the department’s statement.

Palm Bay police said someone called the department’s administrative line Tuesday about a bomb threat at a school but did not identify which school.

Further information suggested the call was an attempted swatting incident, according to police.

Brevard Public Schools notified families earlier Tuesday, the department said.

The investigation remains active. Police did not release information about the caller or announce any arrests.
