ORLANDO, Fla. — Commissioners in Orange County will meet Tuesday to dive deeper into plans to construct two new districts.

Orange County has six districts, but there will be eight starting next year.
Voters approved the amendment to the county charter in November, increasing the number of county commissioners from six to eight.

To help do this, the board is creating a citizen advisory committee.
They will help create the two new districts and adjust the district boundaries to comply with federal, state, and local laws.

It’s expected to cost the county $2.5 million to redraw the maps and build new offices.
The changes will also add about $1.3 million annually for expenses and staff.
