ORLANDO, Fla. — Drivers stopping along Florida’s Turnpike have a new option for chicken fingers and wings.
Zaxbys opened Sept. 29 at Orlando’s Turkey Lake Service Plaza, at milepost 263.
The restaurant is the first of five planned for Turnpike service plazas under a new agreement with Areas USA, which operates restaurants and other businesses at travel destinations.
The companies did not identify the other four locations or provide opening dates in their announcement.
The Turkey Lake restaurant serves the chain’s chicken fingers, wings and signature sauces. Zaxbys described the agreement as its largest development deal for locations beyond its traditional restaurants.
The expansion builds on Areas USA’s existing partnership with Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise to operate at the highway’s service plazas.
Zaxbys said it is also exploring restaurants at airports, colleges and universities, military installations and other busy destinations.
