In a news release, the Tallahassee Police Department confirmed that one man was killed in the shooting, which occurred outside the Half-Time Liquors store. The victim died at the scene.

Police added that the eight people wounded at the scene in Florida’s capital city had injuries ranging from minor to serious, WCTV reported.

The shooting took place after the Florida State football team defeated Georgia Tech 41-16 at Tallahassee’s Doak Campbell Stadium.

Police shot and apprehended a man they believe is a suspect in the shooting, the Tallahassee Democrat reported. The suspect sustained injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, according to WCTV.

“There were dozens and dozens of shots that rang out from this, and we’ll continue to gather the information that’s necessary to put all the pieces together, so there could be others,” Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said at a news conference Sunday morning. “These officers ran towards this amazing amount of gunfire as it was occurring.”

According to WCTV, there were three suspects in custody as of Sunday morning. No arrests have been made.

The shooting was the worst in Tallahassee since two people were killed and five others were injured during a 2018 incident at the Hot Yoga Tallahassee studio, according to the Democrat.

Police were controlling crowds Saturday night when “multiple individuals within the crowds” began shooting, the newspaper reported.

“It’s one large incident,” Revell told reporters. “Several locations involved in this incident, but yes, we believe it is one isolated incident.”
