ORLANDO, Fla. — For the first time this season, meteorologists are tracking two named storms in the Atlantic basin.
Tropical Storm Fay continues to spin over the north-central Atlantic.
The system is expected to remain over open water and weaken over the weekend, with no significant impacts to land anticipated.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Gonzalo developed overnight.
The storm currently lacks a well-defined structure, which could limit its ability to strengthen.
Gonzalo is expected to move toward the Cape Verde Islands this weekend, bringing impacts to the islands before the system weakens and turns north.
For now, neither storm poses a threat to the continental United States, but forecasters will continue to monitor both systems as they evolve.
