KISSIMMEE, Fla. — An 8-year-old girl with cerebral palsy has received a specialized activity chair designed to improve her comfort and support during everyday activities.
Wheelchairs 4 Kids announced that Hannah, who was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy at age 1, recently received the adaptive chair through support from the Gerner Family Charitable Foundation.
According to the nonprofit, Hannah has limited trunk control and is unable to use a standard chair safely. The activity chair is designed to provide additional support and positioning during feeding, learning activities and other daily routines.
The organization said the chair will help Hannah maintain proper posture and improve comfort during activities at home.
Hannah enjoys art, music, swimming and reading books about animals, according to Wheelchairs 4 Kids.
In a statement provided by the family, Hannah’s caregivers said the chair has already made a difference by providing an alternative seating option outside her wheelchair and helping with postural support.
Wheelchairs 4 Kids offers wheelchairs, medical supplies, and accessibility modifications for children with physical disabilities through its programs. The nonprofit stated that the chair will enable Hannah to engage more comfortably in daily activities.
