APOPKA, Fla. — Apopka Mayor Nick Nesta has declared a temporary halt on hiring for most vacant city roles.
The decision was announced on Tuesday and will remain in effect until October 1.
The pause will allow for a strategic review of the city’s organizational structure to improve efficiency and resource management.
“The goal is not simply to add positions or eliminate positions. The goal is to build the right structure,” said Mayor Nick Nesta. “We have great people working for the City of Apopka. Now we need to make sure we have the structure in place that allows people to succeed.”
In a social media statement, the City said, “For those who have already submitted applications, we appreciate your interest in joining the City of Apopka team and your patience during this temporary review.”
While most roles are frozen, the city said it will continue recruiting for a critical Community Development Director position.
